The project joined international discussions in Shanghai on foresight, AI, innovation and the future of skills.
SKILLBRIDGE took part in the 2026 International Science, Technology and Innovation Think Tank Forum, held in Shanghai on 24–25 June as part of the prestigious Pujiang Innovation Forum. Convened under the theme "Crossing Boundaries: Co-creating Future Industries in a Period of Transformation", the event brought together policymakers, researchers, innovators and foresight practitioners from around the world to explore how emerging technologies, innovation ecosystems and governance models are shaping the future.
The themes discussed closely reflected the four Strategic Domains underpinning SKILLBRIDGE: Foresight & Futures Intelligence, AI & Deep Tech Systems, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, and Sustainability & Green Transitions.
Through an invited keynote on Foresight and Innovation Governance, Dr Rafael Popper, Scientific Coordinator of SKILLBRIDGE, shared insights from ongoing European initiatives, including SKILLBRIDGE. His presentation highlighted how foresight, weak signals, capability development and AI-supported transformation intelligence can help education providers, innovation ecosystems and policymakers anticipate change and respond more effectively to emerging challenges.
International engagements such as the Pujiang Innovation Forum provide valuable opportunities to exchange ideas, validate emerging concepts and connect SKILLBRIDGE with global communities working at the intersection of future skills, AI, innovation and sustainability. These exchanges also contribute to the ongoing development of the project's Skills Observatory, Capability Architecture and Transformation Intelligence Framework, strengthening collaboration between Europe and Asia and supporting the project's ambition to build more future-ready education and innovation ecosystems.
